What problem does this service solve?

Typical rooms used for hifi and home cinema behave very differently from large rooms or outdoors, such as commercial cinemas, music clubs, concerts and venues etc.

The spaces we use at home suffer from severe negative impacts on bass. Even though you may have found a good position for your speakers, the bass may seem to be good at your seat. There'll be plenty of notes/frequencies missing and some that just linger on, or sustain, masking the music.

A room at home is a challenging audio space. This is because the distance between opposite walls, or the floor and the ceiling, isn't enough to let all bass notes develop. And instead, they clash, a bit like waves in a bathtub. This causes peaks (loud/lingering) and nulls (quiet spots) in the bass response. You can often hear the change in bass even if you move your head just 10cm in any direction, and especially if you move to another seat.

This phenomenon happens when bass notes play from either the left or right full-range loudspeaker, or from a subwoofer in the room. So, if you left speaker plays sounds from a Timpani drum set, 1,2 and 4 might be good, shile 3 almost disappears! Move to another spot, and 2 snd 3 may be loud, but 1 and 4 are low.

If this issue can be improved in a room, the bass will sound more tuneful, more natural and can also be enjoyed more in other seats. You'll get to hear more of what the system can do, rather than the room's effect. You can even be more flexible with your speaker locations, instead of chasing that perfect spot. On top of these benefits, mid-range and treble response improve as well.

The whole audio picture falls into place when you improve the bass, through effective absorption.
